Cyprus Business Angels Network CYBAN is the only Angel Investment Network in Cyprus. In early 2013, CYBAN was established by founder and CEO Andreas Koupparis. During a time of economic crisis in Cyprus, when local major banking systems were crumbling, and the unprecedented haircut of the deposits of tens of thousands of depositors in the island’s largest bank was taking place, a small group of investors decided they could make a difference both for themselves, and for the betterment of their local economy, and joined in the creation of CYBAN.
CYBAN is a full member of EBAN, the European Business Angels Network, which is the pan-European representative for the early stage investors gathering for over 150 member organizations in more than 50 countries today.
CYBAN is also a full member of GBAN, the Global Business Angels Network, a global community of business angel networks and organizations coordinated by the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), which are interfacing with entrepreneurs, policymakers, early-stage finance actors, and leading entrepreneurial support programs to strengthen the global entrepreneurial ecosystem.
We connect innovative fast growing companies to equity finance through our membership of experienced angel investors. Since its founding, CYBAN has reviewed 100’s of businesses per year to find the most exciting and cutting edge companies. We select up to 15 businesses per year to pitch to our members through our Company Presentation Events and online notice board-which is accessible to members only. Through careful selection of only the most promising companies to present to our investors, our deal flow is of the highest quality.
Our membership of investors represents a cross section of influential business leaders from Cyprus, including successful entrepreneurs and former CEOs, chairmen and non-executives of large private and public companies. The wide and varied nature of the companies expected to present to the network will allow our investors to leverage not only their financial capital, but also, their intellectual capital through both executive and non-executive positions.
